Summer to Fall Smoky Eyes with Giorgio Armani Beauty & Neiman Marcus
Contrastingly different to previous seasons, we actually saw some smoky eyes up and down the spring/summer runways at shows such as Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, and Elie Saab. What are the biggest tips for transcending this look from summer into fall? Keep your smokey palette full of golds, browns, and earth tones rather than heavy dark tones. Also, don't be afraid to add a brighter pop of color to your lower lids to add extra flare and a pouty muted lip to soften the overall look. I had the chance to team up with Giorgio Armani and Neiman Marcus to really press play, and see the trend in action. Pro makeup artist and cosmetics product specialist, Amaril Florez, gave me a live rundown on how to achieve the look in a just few simple quick steps.
After cleansing and prepping your skin with a serum or moisturizer, Florez advises to first begin with the eyes. Use a neutral colored base all over the lids, and using a flat makeup brush begin applying a darker shadow to the corners of your eyes. Softly mix two bronzed colors on the crease.
Next, clean up any shadow that may have dropped under the eyes with a makeup wipe or cleanser. Make sure to sweep upward toward the hairline. Using your ring finger, dab on an eye cream around the eyes and along the orbital bones. You don't need to put it directly under the eyes. As your body temperature heats up, it will rise on it's own. Then, add a little correcter or concealer to wake up the eyes. This will be the focus of the entire look which makes it important to focus on. Follow with a nice sweep of blush on each cheekbone to balance out any harsh concealer lines and soften the look.
Fill in and shape your brows with a gel or pencil. You can use the same product to begin lining the top of your lash lines.
Line the bottom of your eyes with blue eyeliner. To help it really stand out, you will need to sweep over the blue liner with a green shadow using a small flat brush. Adding the liner first will help to grip the shadow, and push the swipe of color to be a little more vibrant.
For finishing touches, you will first add about two coats of black mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Line your lips with a nude liner, and smooth on a nude lipstick. For this look, it is better to go with a light creamy texture. Add any additional bronzer or highlighter around the eyes or as needed to balance the over look.
All done! Strike a pose, take a selfie, and maybe keep some blotting papers with you throughout the day to keep your makeup from melting all over the place.
